THE OPPORTUNITY
We’re looking for a talented Tech Lead to join our Production Engineering area in Portugal!

This area is composed of Software and Systems engineers working in small teams focused on Cloud, Runtime, Observability and Productivity engineering. Together they develop and manage a huge multi-services cloud native platform on top of Kubernetes on AWS.
The selected candidate will work in the Observability team, which is located in Brazil and Portugal. This team is responsible for the Observability Platform that helps teams to monitor our systems more effectively and allows them to find and connect effects in a complex chain, tracing them back to their cause.

YOUR IMPACT
  • Help to build an engineering platform enabling engineering teams to create and maintain their cloud services autonomously;
  • Level-up our systems architecture, infrastructure, quality, and operational capabilities;
  • Improve our Cloud Native Platform using Kubernetes Operators and Controllers;
  • Technically lead one or more teams to deliver features that help Gympass engineers be more productive and consistent;
  • Lead by example in terms of best engineering practices including writing maintainable and extensible code with high quality tests and documentation.

REQUIREMENTS


WHO YOU ARE
  • Holder of a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent professional experience;
  • You have consolidated experience with, at least, two programming languages such as Java, Scala, Python, Ruby, JavaScript or Golang;
  • You have consolidated experience with SQL/NoSQL technology such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, understanding common use cases and performance pitfalls;
  • You are experienced dealing with event-driven architectures and message brokers such as RabbitMQ, KAFKA , ActiveMQ, etc and a in depth understanding of their use cases and pitfall;
  • You are versed in concepts such as DDD, SOLID, Design Patterns distributed systems and architecture and capable of understanding pitfalls/ anticipating common failure modes of a microservice environment;
  • You are experienced in managing or technically leading a software engineering team;
  • You have implemented prototypes or have experience in practices and concepts such as MVP, A/B testing and feature toggles for rolling-out features to production;
  • You are not afraid of getting your hands dirty. You are a very technical professional with a passion for software and product development;
  • You are accountable for your decisions and possess a high level of ownership over the products you are delivering. You feel frustrated when things go wrong and take proactive actions to prevent the next failure to happen;
  • You are a data driven person, who asks for data to support product decisions before blindly implementing things, you try to simplify the scope of what you are developing constantly;
  • You are bold and innovative;
  • You have strong communication skills, being able to communicate effectively with technical and non technical stakeholders;
  • You are passionate for new technologies and have proven capability in analysis and problem-solving;
  • You have full proficiency in English and are able to articulate ideas clearly when speaking to groups in English.
